The Staff Accountant provides a wide variety of both complex and routine tasks within the Accounting department.  This position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports under the direction of the Assistant Director of Accounting and Finance. This position maintains accurate accounts receivable and general ledger information, prepares payroll, fixed asset and other journal entries consistent with GAAP. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounting Clerks to maintain an accurate General Ledger and timely financial reporting. This position also adopts a client-centered and trauma-informed services approach in interactions with clients.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of all Microsoft applications
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
